With sadness of heart, I have to report that DansGeekStop will be moving to a new web hosting company. I have been informed that lomag.net will be shutting down at the end of June. During negotiations to renew their contract with the data center they utilize, they were informed that the cost of continuing service would be increasing substantially.
I have been with Lomag for a number of years, both during my active IRC days and now with DansGeekStop. The quality of their service has always been first rate, and I have always enjoyed working with Mark, my primary contact whenever I had questions or issues.
It is kind of ironic that this issue arose now, because the next in-depth article I was planning to write was going to focus on data centers and the exploding demand for new ones, along with the costs and infrastructure issues that come with them.
I have pretty much decided on a new web hosting company and plan on transitioning to the new host at the end of May. Because I will be handling most of the migration myself, and there are a number of technical issues that must be addressed during the process, I do expect there may be some temporary disruption in the site being available.
